Sabudana Khichadi: Sabudana is (Tapioca Pearls). Sabudana Khichadi is eaten as breakfast and as a snack too. It is from Indian cuisine mainly eaten in Maharastra. It is a natural grain and Gluten-free. It is a good source of carbohydrates and low protein. But it high in vitamins. It is also used widely during fasting in India.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Sabudana
  • 2-3 small to medium potatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 1-2 small tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp  Oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Asafetida (Hing)
  • 1 green chili
  • 2-3 Garlic  cloves
  • 1 tbs Ginger graded
  • 6-7  Curry leaves (*optional)
  • 1/2 cup lightly ground peanuts
  • 1  red dry chili pepper (remove seeds)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili Cayenne (med or hot)
    (As per your taste)
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt (As per your taste)
  • fresh cilantro for garnish.

About: It can be used as breakfast and as snacks.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1 –

Take 1 Cup of Sabudana and wash it, add 1 cup of water. Soak it 4-6 H. Or if you want to make breakfast you can soak it overnight. Then wash once again if you want to remove some starch. Let in drain all water via stainer.

Step 2

Prepare ingredients, boil the potatoes, add 3 tbs of oil in a pan, then add cumin seeds and dry red pepper (no seeds).  Add chopped onion and saute it for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add ginger, green pepper, and chopped garlic. Saute it add a little salt. Then add the boiled cut potatoes.

Step 3

Add Roasted mildly ground peanuts. Add the spices at this time saute for a minute then add sabudana to it cover it and let it cook for 8-10 minutes. 

Step 4

Once cooked add chopped tomatoes and cilantro. Taste this time and see if everything is per your taste like salt and spices.

Step 5

Serve hot garnish with cilantro and lemon.
