Plain Rice, It’s eaten all over India and the world. Preparation is easy and you can add anything you want to eat with. I am using White Basmati Rice.


  • 2 Cups Basmati Rice
  • 4 Cups¬†Water

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Wash the rice nicely 2-3 times until water clear (Usually, aged rice wash quickly but new rice needs more wash.)

Step 2

Soak the rice for 30 minutes for better results. 

Step 3

When cooking in a clay pot or other open pot it takes around 16 minutes.

(1 cup- around 12 minutes, 2 cups 16 minutes, 3 cups 20 minutes.)

Step 4

After it’s done do not open the pot let it sit for 3-4 minutes. Open the lid as we don’t want to overcook.

Step 5

Serve hot, enjoy with curry vegetables you like.
